Joy is a Gift, Not a Goal!

being human happiness joy Oct 04, 2021

Rev. Dr. Michelle Wadleigh

Joy is not the result of anything – although it often appears that way because we seem to have a sudden burst of joy after an event or experience. But the truth is that JOY is lying in wait, under everything you do, wanting to express itself.

We are overworked, overscheduled, and overstimulated by life. Life for many has been upended because of our drive. We have been hypnotized into believing that we must earn our Joy, earn our freedom, earn our right to have time off to enjoy family and friends.

Let’s take back our lives, our joy, our right to sit and listen to the crickets, have numerous cups of tea with a friend, and chew the fat about life, and love, and whatever else your little heart desires to discuss.

We work too hard, too long, and still have trouble relaxing on our days off.  Do yourself a favor and pay attention to your addiction to busyness, of overworking, of thinking that you must work ridiculously hard or long to earn your time off.

Joy is wanting to be expressed, waiting to be expressed - EXPRESS IT. Let’s take what’s in the way – out of the way and allow pure unadulterated JOY to come through.  It is your birthright; it is one of the most beautiful ways we connect as humans.  Be in Joy friend, let your heart sing. Let your heart heal through Joy.  And the extra perk is this: healing happens when Joy is expressed, and all those endorphins get released through joyful and loving experiences helping the body heal.
