Self-Love at its finest - To love the Self that you are is to love God

Sep 13, 2021

Rev. Michelle Wadleigh, D.D.

Without self-approval, self-love, and self-acceptance, you are left living life from wishing, hoping, and wanting. It is not arrogant, egotistical, or selfish to the being that you are. Okay, yes, narcissists and arrogant people do exist, but we are not talking about them.

We are talking about YOU. To live the life of your strongest desires, you must love the “all” of you, the parts that you and others wildly accept, and the pieces that you would prefer to hide.

There is nothing about you that should be rejected. Even your mistakes and transgressions are part of your total make-up. Your mistakes are the fodder for the improved you. Your transgressions are how you learn about your own healthy boundaries. And the quicker you learn to love and forgive yourself for those errors, the more boundless you will experience your spirit.

Your soul is waiting for you to approve of yourself so it can dance in the light of your being. Denying your good, criticizing, and judging yourself is like closing the heavy curtains in your home, preventing the light from coming in. When you decide to love and accept yourself as you are and as you are not, it is like throwing open those curtains so pure light can come streaming in.

You are the evidence of Life/Spirit/God Creation; how can you be anything less than beautiful. Just like the song lyrics by Libby Roderick: How Can Anyone Ever Tell You.

Choose to speak to yourself in kind and loving ways. When you look in the mirror, remember to look long enough to see the evidence of God as you. Be willing to implement healthy boundaries. You are worthy and the offspring of the Divine with a birthright greater than all the riches in the world.
